TUTORIAL OVERVIEW

Escape the Prison

After the short intro scene, I walked up to the mirror and set up my character up in the character creator.

Next I went through the door to wake up from the dream. The mysterious voice will asked me to escape the prison I found myself in as myself first test. I followed the arrows and the markings on the floor to move and pick up loot.

From the box I got a TT-33, a basic pistol, 30 bullets, bandages and crackers.

Getting started items

I then headed to the room on the right of my cell to pick up a Carrot from the box in that room. Running and rolling costs stamina, as shown by the little gauge next to your character. I checked the trashbin for a lighter, a lollipop and some electronics.

I equipped the pistol as there was an encounter right around the corner. I dodged a shot (when I saw a red flash) and took out the guard. I picked up a Police Baton, a White Lab coat, and a pair of Black Rimmed Sunglasses. I equipped everything and set up the baton on my hot bar for melee encounters. I then picked up some bullets from the box in the room on the right. Then I found some cables in the trash can. The voice then told me that holding the right mouse button gives more accuracy. I picked up some bandages and aspirin from the box.

First encounter

In the next room, I looted another crate for a PM, another pistol. I set it up in slot 2. I took out the next guard behind the boxes and picked up a Glick and another labcoat, and sunglasses. Another guard met his swift end next and I looted some bullets. I didn’t have any more inventory space so I moved on. The next trashbin I looted had some crackers and soda in it. I ate the carrot and crackers from earlier to get my energy up and picked up the crackers and soda from the trashbin.

After topping up my hunger and thirst I headed out. I took the path to the right and headed to the extraction point. The extraction was complete soon after.

Extraction point

BASE

At the base I headed up to talk to Jeff. He showed me around the base – the warehouse, the construction panel, vending machine, the enhancer and the exfiltration point. Jeff also had quests for me. I stored some of the stuff and sold the Glicks. Kept the TT-33 equipped. Then I checked the Vending Machine for items available for sale.

The base

I checked the Enhancer to see my upgrade paths.

I researched and activated Backpack Expert I, which increased my backpack capacity by +4. All enhancement costs money and materials. I was missing materials for any of the other enhancements. I then increased Storage Expansion Lv.1 at the warehouse, that gave me +35 storage capacity.

I spoke to Jeff next to see the quests he had. He had two Basic Construction and Startup Capital.

Jeff the trader

QUEST: BASIC CONSTRUCTION

  • Location: Ground Zero
  • Objectives: Build Workbench by collecting two pieces of wood.
  • Rewards: Exp +1000 and Currency +500 and Bandage x 3

QUEST: STARTUP CAPITAL

  • Location: Ground Zero
  • Rewards: Exp+500 and currency +1296

I accepted both quests.

I headed out through the bunker door to get on with both quests.

Quests

MAP: GROUND ZERO

On the other side, I learnt I could come back through the bunker of find extraction points marked by green smoke. I looted the first box to find some bullets and another TT-33. Picked both up and moved to the right.

In a toolbox up ahead I found small stones and Nails. Small stones can be used to lure enemies. I found some nuts, bolts and a car battery next. I found an enemy encampment to the left of the map.

Taking out one of the Red Ducks – the Rampaging Scavengers (they use charge and melee attacks with Butcher Knives) here got a one kill needed for the quest Startup Capital. I looted a Butcher Knife, wood and some cash off the body. I then took out the other enemy here and looted the data box for a Blueprint.

Ground Zero map

I looted a Fading Feather off the body and some more cash. In the tactical box, I found a Homemade Shotgun and some bullets. I set up the shotgun in my secondary slot. I checked the ammo box near the top tent to find some standard bullets and arrows. I headed north and shot an explosive barrel near a wall.

Secure Early Gear

I went through and engaged green ducks (these ducks use shotguns and have body armor on) on this side. I then checked the container on the right for a Marker and some ammo. I found a Laser attachment as well. I took out the next soldier and looted the corpse of the first one and the second one. I found a backpack which immediately increased my storage to 39 upon equipping it. I also found a bow and arrows and a Cold Core Fragment – needed for enhancement.

Looting

I also looted an AK-74U and another Cold Core Fragment. Picked up another blueprint for a TOZ-66 next to the embankment. I proceeded to take out the next guard. I looted a Lv1 Body Armor, another homemade shotgun, a cosmetic backpack and shotgun shells. I picked up a Red dot sight and more of the same kind of loot from the next corpse.

I kept going north up the stairs and picked up some more junk from the various loot boxes. On the left I found a teleportation node and it teleported me inside a container.

I was near a lake.

Lake

I headed south from here and took out some more green ducks along the way. Looted a PM and a cold core fragment. Near Forest Path I found a small camp, that had a Recipe for MD40.

I noticed a small bump on the floor. So I used a shovel to dig up a J-Lab Floppy disc.

Still heading south I cleared another camp, picked up a bunch of loot, more of the same stuff. Nothing worth of note except I found another wood needed for the quest, Basic Construction. I headed south at the end of the forest path to unlock a gate to go through.

Just above the gate is another hiding spot that you can dig up. I found a Storage Fence Key here.

I tried crossing the broken bridge to the cave entrance but I didn’t have the required materials which is 2 metal plates and 2 wood. I headed back up north to the lake, towards North Mountain. I found a bunch of medicine near the lake and found the path to North Mountain blocked off by a breakable wall. I headed to Northwest Camp and took care of the green ducks here.

Extract and Turn In

I was near the extraction point above Road Camp. I found a SMG DMG-boosting Muzzle attachment here. At this point, I was dehydrated. Anyway, I found the Blueprint for a Homemade shotgun at the camp. I proceeded to extract out of Zero Point. I had completed both quests. I handed in Startup Capital.

I also picked up the quest Hunter’s Path.

QUEST: HUNTER’S PATH

  • Location: Ground Zero
  • Objectives: Kill 2 Rampaging Scavengers and Submit 2 Butcher Knives.
  • Rewards: Exp +1500 Currenct +380 Metal Plate x 2, Nut x 1, Bolt x 1.

I went to the Construction Panel and built a workbench. This unlocked the Key Registration Device, for which I needed circuit boards and a CD-ROM drive.

I then handed in Basic Construction. In the Workbench I checked the blueprint research section.

I unlocked every blueprint I had picked up. I also upgraded the Workbench by researching Advanced Processing.

I cleaned up my inventory at the warehouse. Three more quests had been unlocked.

QUEST: THE IMPORTANCE OF BLEEDING CONTROL

  • Location: Ground Zero
  • Objectives: Use Bandage
  • Rewards: Exp +500 Currency +150 Pile of Medicine x 1 and unlocks item : Aspirin.

QUEST: SIGNAL TOWER

  • Location: Ground Zero
  • Objectives: Fix the northern signal tower
  • Required Items: Flathead Screwdriver
  • Rewards: Exp +1500 and Currency +450

QUEST: LETTER FROM AN OLD FRIEND

  • Location: Ground Zero
  • Objectives: Submit: Letter from an Old Friend
  • Rewards: Exp +1500, Currency +450

I then purchased a Flathead Screwdriver from the Vending Machine. I needed this for the quest, Signal Tower.

Lastly, I went to the Enhancer and upgrade both Survival Instinct 1, which gave +5 to my Max HP and Wide View 1, which gave me +15 to my FOV.

I then went to bed to pass the time to 7 am next day, because Night becomes more dangerous and I wasn’t about to find out how.

This concludes this part of the walkthrough for Escape from Duckov.
